Tomorrow’s the big night – we will find out who this year’s 50 On Fire winners are in Boston. From thousands of nominations, a panel of judges narrowed the list down to 200 finalists, including our CEO and Founder, Christine Perkett. We’re proud to work with someone who defies the odds, is an influential female entrepreneur, leads by example and continues to innovate the world of PR and tech.
Christine has never been one to shy away from risk. She breaks barriers all day long. Female entrepreneurs and startup founders are statistically known for receiving less funding, and women over 40 even less so. According to a recent Inc. article, “only 10 percent of startups which raised Series A last year had female founders. Today’s venture capital environment clocks some 305 active funds over $100 million. These funds collectively put $114 billion to work. Ninety percent of it never sees a female founder.”
Despite the odds, Christine has founded two successful companies in Boston in the last 20 years. She moved to the city right after she graduated from college in Michigan, and she’s been “on fire” ever since. Her first company, PerkettPR, was founded in 1998 and has won numerous awards throughout the years in PR and HR, and named a “Golden Image Standard in IT” by Forrester Research. Christine herself has been named to many “Best Of” lists in marketing, social media, PR and business, including a Top 25 Authority Moving PR Forward (Traackr), a 100 Most Powerful Woman on Twitter (Hubspot), a Top Influential Woman in Tech (by Don Dodge of Google), A Top Marketing Mind to Follow (Forbes), and more. She was named Best Communications, IR or PR Executive in the American Business Awards and most recently she was ranked one of the Top 250 Female Business Influencers in the World, one of a select few representing the great city of Boston among the likes of politicians, celebrities and other socially savvy business leaders.
Like you, Christine has faced controversy and challenges. But she rises to fight them every time – even getting on stage to inspire others to keep going through rough times. She volunteers her time for local charities such as Marshfield’s Magical Moon Foundation and Friends of Eric Donovan and she is passionate about encouraging girls and women to pursue entrepreneurial and STEM careers. Did we mention she’s also a single mom and has run three marathons?
Today, Christine is focused on innovating the PR industry once again, as she leads our SeeDepth team in building a new kind of PR Tech software platform. Hear more from her on the recent FIR podcast where she discusses many PR topics with Chris Brogan, Shel Holtz and Chris Christensen, or catch her next week on the #measurePR chat with Shonali Burke.
Christine sees a problem and she takes it on, even if it seems insurmountable. For these reasons, and the fact that she inspires not only women worldwide, but entrepreneurs of all kinds, our team thinks she is certainly on fire. We hope the judges do, too.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night at the Awards Ceremony!
